“Living Curriculum” Teachers
The Cambridge School believes in the enormous influence of teachers. “Living curriculum teachers,” as we call them, are not just Christians, but mature, growing, passionate followers of Christ who desire to make a spiritual as well as academic impact. They delight in knowing their students as well as they know their subjects.
| Called to Christian Service |
|---|
|
Cambridge teachers are committed Christians who know their own need for God’s grace and live in light of Christ’s redemptive work. They view their teaching role as an opportunity to model a Christian posture in the world and as a vocational occasion to - imperfectly and with humility - love and serve their students and the school community. Teachers are called to model praiseworthy intellectual, moral, and affective attitudes and actions in and out of the classroom, and to actively promote those dispositions in their students. |
| Masters of their Disciplines |
|
Cambridge educators are academically serious and masters of their subject matter. They know their subjects deeply, and they are committed to expanding their depth of knowledge and their efficacy as instructors. Beyond mere intellectual pursuits, the teachers love their disciplines and winsomely turn their students’ affections toward their subjects as expressions of the true, good, and beautiful. |
| Cultivators of Intellectual Virtue |
|
Having developed their own habits of thought, they readily model intellectual virtue while seeking to nurture the same in their students. Toward this end, teachers are deliberate in their preparation and instruction; they are wise curators of worthwhile studies, and masterful communicators who have a storehouse of suitable teaching methods which are deftly used to cultivate and prompt a host of intellectual virtues within the student. |
| Community Members |
|
Finally, teachers engage as vibrant members of the school community, embodying our shared mission through meaningful interaction with students beyond the classroom walls and through authentic partnerships with parents. |
