BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

“What happens beyond the classroom is not about resume building, but about forming habits of character, discovering gifts, and shaping students who are not just knowledgeable, but wise, courageous, and prepared to engage the world with purpose.”

Beyond the Classroom

A Cambridge education doesn’t end when the bell rings. It extends into service, competition, mentorship, leadership, and formation that prepare students to engage with the world as thoughtful, virtuous participants. Beyond the classroom, our students grow through ministerium, dramatic and rhetorical training, athletics, and our robust house system—all of which serve to shape the whole person in community.

Ministerium

More than just community service, ministerium is a lived expression of our call to love neighbor and serve God with humility. Structured opportunities from the classroom to local outreach train students to see and respond to the needs of others with wisdom, compassion, and a posture of faithful presence.  READ MORE

Rhetoric and Performance

From kindergarten storytelling to senior thesis presentations, students are trained to speak clearly, winsomely, and persuasively. Through classroom activities, dramatic productions, speech meets, and debate, we form communicators who know how to listen well, speak clearly, and engage others with purpose and integrity.  READ MORE

Athletics

Athletics at Cambridge is more than sport — it is a vital arena for formation. Through competition, students learn courage, humility, perseverance, and the character to win and lose well. Coaches serve as mentors, guiding students toward excellence and integrity.  READ MORE

House System

The House system creates small communities where students are known, mentored, and challenged to grow. With weekly competitions, service, and discussions, students build lasting friendships, develop leadership skills, and engage meaningfully with peers and faculty. READ MORE

More Than Academics

Education doesn’t stop when the lesson ends or the test is turned in. At The Cambridge School, the hours beyond the classroom are just as formative as those spent inside it. These moments — on the field, on stage, in service, or alongside a mentor — are not extracurricular; they are co-curricular, woven into the fabric of what it means to become fully human.

What happens beyond the classroom is not about resume building. It’s about habit forming. It’s about shaping students who are not just knowledgeable, but wise; not just skilled, but good. The Cambridge graduate is not only college-ready — they are life-ready, prepared to step into the world as faithful, thoughtful participants in communities, churches, and vocations yet to come.

Whether it's learning to lead in House, losing well on the court, or serving humbly in ministerium, our students are formed by the rhythms of a culture that believes formation isn’t dismissed with the bell. These are the hours where character is tested, gifts are discovered, and lives are shaped by love of God and neighbor.

Student Leadership

Cambridge students don’t just learn about leadership — they live it. Through opportunities in the House system, prefect roles, clubs, and service initiatives, students grow into servant-leaders marked by wisdom, courage, and responsibility.

Faculty Mentorship

Outside the classroom, Cambridge faculty walk alongside students — sharing meals, coaching teams, leading small groups — modeling a life where learning and living are deeply connected.
