General Information
We hope you will join us for a fun-filled summer at The Cambridge School. In the month of July, camps for rising 1st to 8th graders will run from 9-4pm, Monday to Friday. In the morning, students will have the opportunity to sharpen their athletic skills through a variety of sport camps. In the afternoon, students may choose from an assortment of electives that will allow them to experience new and diverse subjects they would not normally encounter during the school year. Each week the camps will emphasize one of the four core values of Cambridge: Veneratio (Worship), Virtus (Virtue), Sapientia (Wisdom) & Ministerium (Service). Students will learn the distinctives of each value and consider the ways they can more intentionally implement them in service of God and neighbor. There will be one camp offered for rising Kindergartners. This camp will be offered during the morning session, the week of July 13th. All registration and payment must be completed and received by Monday, June 1, 2020 to secure supplies and staffing. We will not be able to process any refunds after the registration deadline.

Cambridge parents may pay for their camps through FACTS. All non-Cambridge parents must pay by check made payable to The Cambridge School.

Basketball Camp with Ryan Kataoka
Students will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball including passing, shooting and dribbling. Students will also learn to understand the basic offense and defense structure of the game. It will be a great way for students to have fun, enjoy one another outside the classroom and learn to work within a team.
No previous athletic experience needed. Students will be divided into groups by age and skill to practice the fundamentals of each sport. Coaching assistants will also be available to support students as they learn and develop their athletic skills.

Kindergarten readiness is a class for rising Kindergartners to help them be prepared for their upcoming year in Kindergarten.
Multi-Sport Camp
No previous athletic experience needed. Students will be divided into groups by age and skill to practice the fundamentals of each sport. Coaching assistants will also be available to support students as they learn and develop their athletic skills.

Students will revisit familiar classic folktales and develop their reading and verbal skills, expand vocabulary, build fluency, and deepen comprehension through enacting scripted plays in reader's theater. We will read a story, do an activity, discuss the story events and characters, and then put on a reader's theater production of the story to make it come alive.

Summer Drama Intensive (2 week camp) with Amanda Sansonetti
In this two week intensive, students will get an in-depth view of what it takes to bring a scene from the page to the stage! Students will be grouped into cohorts that will work over the course of 10 days to produce a one act play or a scene from a full-length play. Students will learn how to analyze a character as they read and discuss excerpts from Shakespeare and other essential theatrical masterpieces. They will work on honing their acting skills and cultivating their stage presence through solo and group improv exercises. In addition, they will also be introduced to the other kinds of design roles that are essential to any production with practicums on directing, set design, and costume design. Their work will culminate in a recital in which they get to synthesize their learning on stage in front of an audience as they perform with their cohort.

Furthermore, the course aims to give students a solid foundation that will help students place their respective subjects in certain contexts and time periods at Cambridge. We will utilize in-class lectures, discussions, and readings from primary sources as well as Brian Pavlac's "A Concise Survey of Western Civilization."

Modern Calligraphy for Beginners with Jasmine Rupani
An introductory class to the basic strokes and techniques of modern lettering. Students will learn how to elevate their handwriting into pieces of art. Students will use colors, decorative art, and different scripts to express the ideas of words, names, quotes, and poetry.

They will learn how to hook players with interesting plots and characters, and spend time practicing how to write thoughtful fantasy worlds and stories. General Information
We hope you will join us for a fun-filled summer at The Cambridge School. In the month of July, we will offer a variety of morning and afternoon camps for rising 9-12th graders, depending on the week. Our camps will allow students to experience new and diverse subjects they would not normally encounter during the school year. All registration and payment must be completed and received by Monday, June 1, 2020 to secure supplies and staffing. We will not be able to process any refunds after the registration deadline.

Summer Drama Intensive (2 week camp) w/ Amanda Sansonetti
In this two week intensive, students will get an in-depth view of what it takes to bring a scene from the page to the stage! Students will be grouped into cohorts that will work over the course of 10 days to produce a one act play or a scene from a full-length play. Students will learn how to analyze a character as they read and discuss excerpts from Shakespeare and other essential theatrical masterpieces. They will work on honing their acting skills and cultivating their stage presence through solo and group improv exercises. In addition, they will also be introduced to the other kinds of design roles that are essential to any production with practicums on directing, set design, and costume design. Their work will culminate in a recital in which they get to synthesize their learning on stage in front of an audience as they perform with their cohort.
Introduction to Biblical Hebrew w/ Caleb Smith
This course will provide a simple introduction to reading biblical hebrew. Students will learn in a low stakes environment the basics of the hebrew alphabet, phonetics, vocabulary, and essential speech parts. Students should have a basic understanding of the parts of language prior to taking the course. Upon completion of the course students will be equipped to initiate a formal study of old testament translation for personal or academic advancement.
Western Civilization w/ Josh Kapusinski
Western Civilization provides a brief survey and examination of major intellectual, cultural, political, and religious events, ideas, and people ranging from Classical Greece to the 21st Century. The course will primarily emphasize the creation and destruction of worldviews that have defined different time periods of history. Furthermore, the course aims to give students a solid foundation that will help students place their respective subjects in certain contexts and time periods at Cambridge. We will utilize in-class lectures, discussions, and readings from primary sources as well as Brian Pavlac's "A Concise Survey of Western Civilization."
