Board of Trustees
J. William Weber (Chairman of the Board) is retired after more than 30 years in program and product line management at Hughes Aircraft and General Motors and has since gained more than 10 years of leadership experience within non-profit organizations, including the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and the Corporate Board of the San Diego County YMCA. He received his BS and MS degrees from MIT. He and his wife Sue live in Rancho Santa Fe, CA.
Dawn G. Doorn, CFRE, Vice President for Advancement at Westminster Seminary California, has been in the development and marketing field for 25 years, having earned and maintained the Certified Fund Raising Executive distinction. Prior to her work at the seminary, she worked with The Nature Conservancy, three major zoos, and was a classroom teacher. She earned a BS in Speech/Communication at the University of Minnesota and MA at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, in Reading and Language. Dawn and husband Henry reside in Escondido.
Dr. Michael Dudley has over 25 years of experience in antiinfective drug research and development, with experience in antiinfective agents in the discovery, preclinical and clinical stages in both academia and industry. He currently serves as Senior Vice President, Research and Development and Chief Scientific Officer for Mpex Pharmaceuticals in San Diego. Prior to entering pharmaceutical industry, he served as a Professor and Department Chair on the faculties of the University of Rhode Island School of Pharmacy and Brown University School of Medicine. He and his wife Cathy have two children and live in San Diego.
Michael S. Horton, Ph.D., is Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary in Escondido, CA where he resides with his wife Lisa and four children. The author of many books and articles, he also hosts a nationally-syndicated radio program called the White Horse Inn and is editor-in-chief of Modern Reformation magazine.
Rev. Julius J. Kim (Secretary), Ph.D., is the Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Westminster Seminary California; he is also Associate Pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church in Escondido. Prior to taking his current position at Westminster Seminary California, he taught undergrad communications at Trinity International University in Illinois and church history at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and was a Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University and Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology (Seoul, South Korea). Julius and his wife reside in Escondido with their two daughters.
Scott Kim (Vice Chairman) is Partner and C.O.O. of Commonpath LLC, a retail products manufacturer and designer in San Diego, CA. A seasoned entrepreneur, Scott is currently managing his third start-up company. Prior to this, he was the C.O.O. of Tag Digital Media, an end-to-end consumer electronics manufacturer, as well as an analyst at J.D. Power and Associates. Scott also serves on the Board of God’s Extended Hand, a ministry to the homeless in downtown San Diego. He received his BA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego.
Kay Winn received her BS in Business Administration from the University of Oregon. She resides in Escondido and Oregon with her husband. She presently is a trustee of the Lampstand Foundation.
John G. Yphantides is an attorney in Escondido, CA specializing in business and estate planning. He received his BS in Business Administration from San Diego State University and his JD degree from Loyola Law School. He and his wife, Heather, reside in Escondido with their three children.
Jean Chung Kim (Founder, Head of School, and Board Member Ex Officio) has been an educator for more than 20 years, first as a high school history/humanities teacher, then as an educational policy analyst at a Washington DC think-tank, and then as the owner of a successful after school-tutoring center. She holds a BA in History from Yale University where she completed her teacher preparation as well. She and her husband, Scott, reside in San Diego with their three young children.
